This is a weekend, hands-on cadaveric training course demonstrating the McCain Technique and utilizing the McCain TMJ Arthroscopy System and the Nexus CMF ClearView Hybrid Tower. Attendees are encouraged to bring surgical staff at no additional charge.
The training is structured to provide attendees with hands-on cadaveric exposure designed to increase the participant’s ability to perform TMJ arthroscopic procedures. Participants will be introduced to all levels of TMJ arthroscopy such as, Level I, Level II, and Level III.
Level I will include a didactic lecture and lab demonstration of the First Puncture technique and insertion of the arthroscope into the posterior recess of the superior joint space; diagnostic arthrocentesis;
arthroscopic lysis and lavage under visualization; examination of the Seven-Points-of-Interest; entering the anterior recess in preparation for insertion of second puncture or deposition of targeted medication.
Level II includes a lecture and cadaveric demonstration of placing the Second Punture and insertion of an operative port; identification, explanation, and use of the full-range of 1.8mm arthroscopy instruments; introduction of mechanical and thermal instruments such as shavers, radio frequency ablation and coagulation devices, and a Holmium YAG solid-state laser.
Level III demonstrates the repositioning of the disc also known as discopexy. The didactic portions of the course will also include a lecture on arthroscopy complications. The course will conclude with a question-and-answer session conducted by the faculty.
